Chile’s Entel PCS Selects Intec InterconnecT Suite
Entel PCS in Chile has selected Intec Billing for its InterconnecT settlement suite of products, it was announced yesterday, to streamline its operational processes across its business, thus improving its time to market and revenue as well as visibility and control.
“The Intec solution brings us a reliable and flexible system for expanding our operations and easily addressing the challenges of the forthcoming number portability requirements. Intec offers a proven solution that enables us to bridge our interconnection operations with other areas of our business,” said Robinson Luengo, Entel Financial and Interconnection Manager. “Intec understands the challenges and requirements for business growth and maximising revenues from interconnect agreements as evidenced by similar implementations throughout Latin America.”
Entel PCS, which has more than a 38% market share in Chile with double digit subscriber growth, provides mobile communications service throughout Chile.

Entel starts LTE mobile TV trial with Rubberduck
Entel PCS Telecomunicaciones S.A., in partnership with Aspiro’s subsidiary Rubberduck Media Lab, has carried out trials for high-speed mobile TV over LTE. Rubberduck Media Lab tested high-quality TV signals streamed over LTE testbeds.
The tests with Entel PCS, which already runs a mobile TV service powered by Rubberduck over its 3G network, were rolled out in December 2009.

First LTE network trials in Latin America
Chilean operator Entel PCS has launched LTE network trials. The field tests are being developed in partnership with Ericsson, Carlos Rodriguez, Entel’s products and services manager, said in an interview with TeleSemana.
Entel PCS and Ericsson have already established the first internet connection through LTE technology in a field trial, using a network configuration similar to that of a usual site. According to Entel, this is the first LTE field trial rolled out in Latin America.
